Lauren & Chris: Cool, Bohemian, London Winter Wedding at St Stephen's Church |Emmie Scott Ph

On Saturday 4th November 2017, I was honoured to support Lauren and Chris on their wedding day with an on-the-day coordination service. (This meant that I was purely assisting with the smooth running of the day and scheduling the day's timeline rather than a full plan and it was great to work with them!) This fun-fuelled, modern, cross-cultural, winter London wedding took place st St Stephen's in Hampstead which is a truly unique venue. As a former church, it has gorgeous restored details complete with stained-glass windows and glorious arches. Lauren and Chris chose this venue for its charm and flexibility as well as its size as they hosted over 200 guests!

Lauren and her team of lovely bridesmaids got ready at the legendary St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in a humungous suite fit for a Queen. Laura Anne Makeup and her team did lovely, neutral makeup and expert updos for a glamorous look. Chris and the groomsmen got ready elsewhere and were bang on time to greet guests at the church after the florist Find Me By The Flowers, the caterers and I had finished setting up the ceremony. Ella created these wonderful tree arrangements for the altar which looked amazing and matched the colour scheme with a mix of reds, pinks, ivory and foliage. When the groomsmen arrived I got to work, pinning on the buttonholes and helping guests to their seats.

L&C have some very very talented friends who helped them with their wedding ceremony. A trusted friend and pianist played the ceremony songs beautifully as the bridesmaids floated down the aisle in their matching pink dresses. Lauren then made her grand entrance with Mum and Dad on each arm, who were so emotional for this big day. Two close friends also led the humanist ceremony that they had crafted themselves as they read their promises to each other. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. A friend, Charlie, also sang as part of the ceremony service which was lovely in the acoustics of the Church.

As the couple led out the church, we coordinated a confetti gun shot above their heads which was expertly captured by Emmie Scott. Then it was go go go time for myself and the caterers as we turned around the room for dinner, sectioning off the left side of the room to move tables and tablecentres.

This London wedding has the theme of travel to honour the couple's globetrotting. The tablenames, placecards and tableplan were lovingly made by a very talented graphic design friend of theirs. Each table was named after a particular destination that meant something to Lauren and Chris which added some real personality to the day. For the tablecentres, they chose a mix of tall and low arrangements to draw the eye and give the day a real wow factor. The mix of gold and champagne tealights were clustered aroud the base of the floral pieces for that bit of extra winter wedding magic.

We begun the wonderful food service by xxx and split the 6 speeches into two sets of three. The stand out speech was by one of the maid of honours who did a real life MOH rap! Hilariously funny and also very personal. It really added to the uplifting and fun tone of the day.

After the speeches, we rolled into the cutting of the cake followed by the first dance. Cake making is a huge tradition in Chris' family, whose grandmother made cakes for the Royal family! It was so special to have the family tradition continue in their wedding. The evening party was made even more fun by the goodie bags made for each table which contained party-ready items like large sunglasses, glowsticks, facepaint and glitter.

When the lights went up at St Stephen's church, the fun did not stop, as a group of guests and the newlyweds headed to Dead Dolls Club to dance the night away.

Overall it was a really fun day and I was honoured to help bring this awesome cross-cultural wedding to life!
