Bright Colours, Big City Styled Shoot
I love moodboarding. It’s one of my treasured past times (that and falling asleep during films in bed). Creating new wedding looks has just become a weekly habit of mine. But when the idea arose for a modern, colourful, light-hearted wedding, a moodboard was just not enough. I had to bring it to life, if only just to prove that I could.
For the venue, The Anthologist from the Drake & Morgan collection was a clear choice! The space is so trendy and quirky that it sells itself as soon as you walk in. It was also right in the heart of the picturesque financial district of London so there were some great photo opportunities in the surrounding area. Their crockery and furniture were so fabulous that we used everything in-house which added to the authenticity of the shoot.
Assembling the best team possible was difficult but the final group was more than I could’ve hoped for. Okishima & Simmonds were a pleasure to work with, bringing new elements to the styling and delivering beautifully quirky floral pieces on the day. Jen’s Cakery created a really fun wedding cake that fit the shoot spot on. For place settings we used special macaron lollipops from Ganache Macarons sat in individual bottles of sherbet. For the dress the lovely ladies at Sassi Holford lent us Octavia from the Signature collection which was sleek and modern on our bride. For stationery Lucy Says I Do spoilt us with a selection from her Love Amongst The Flowers collection which was just the right balance of modern and floral. Complete Event Hire also gracefully lent us some bright orange napkins which pulled the look together.
Emma from Tori Harris Makeup styled the bride’s hair with flowing, devil-may-care curls for a relaxed feel. Debbie Purkiss gave the bride an edgy graphic eyeliner and fuschia lip to add in a bit of fun and whimsy. I was hugely grateful to model groom Michael Stark for expertly styling his look in-keeping with the theme.
What can I say about Alline. As a person she brightens every room she enters but as a photographer she is one of a kind. She has an amazing talent for bringing out the best in you no matter how nervous you may feel, making you smile and capturing your spirit in one photo! Cannot thank her enough for all her hard work with this shoot.
Finally I want to dedicate this whole project to my model bride and best friend Salne Kvietinskaite. Not only did she support me throughout the process – the good, the bad and the ugly – but she gave this shoot 100%. Even though this was a difficult time in her life, she dug deep and shone for the camera (I’m sure you’ll agree). So I dedicate this to you Salne because I really couldn’t have done it without you.
How do I feel? Completely overwhelmed with the fact that Rock My Wedding has chosen to feature it. I’m very proud of this shoot and cannot wait for my next one.
I hope you enjoy the pictures!
